In our AKMA Combat Kinetics martial arts program, the various martial art styles are not separated but instead integrated into your entire training to learn effective self-defense. The goal is to learn to be versatile in your martial arts to cover a wide area of techniques from Protect and Defend, to Pain Compliance and Control, to utilization of Goshin-Jitsu in life-threatening situations. Our various methods include:
Basic self-defense through various means of protection, and be able to evacuate the situation with little or no harm to oneself.
Physically controlling the attacker through various holds and pain compliance (non-lethal) techniques.
The concept of goshin jitsu is to deploy a variety of life-saving techniques in serious situations to keep oneself and loved ones safe. Injury or physical harm to another person should never be taken lightly, but one must learn when it’s both legally and ethically appropriate to use a greater amount of force.
Ryukyu Kempo and its major components of Kyusho Jitsu (pressure point techniques), Tuite Jistu (joint locking techniques), kicks, punches/hand strikes, and Kata make up the bulk of the striking and traditional Karate elements of the system.
Small Circle Jujitsu is a stand up grappling system of jujitsu. Founded by the late Wally Jay, and now lead by his son Leon Jay, SCJ deploys the use of a unique set of 16 principles of small joint manipulation that make it one of the most effective joint locking systems out there.
SCJ is a world-wide organization; students of AKMA can also earn rank in this organization as they progress.
Modern Arnis is a Filipino Martial Art founded by Remy Presas. Our affiliation with the IMAF is through Master of Tapi Tapi Ken Smith and his M.A.T.S program. Modern Arnis is our main weapon system, but we use many of the empty hand components as well. The weapons of Modern Arnis are the Stick and Knife.
